The American University Katzen Museum announces the new music concert series CONNECTED: MUSIC in the MUSEUM.
MUSIC in the MUSEUM events will be held on Thursday evenings at 7 PM throughout the school year. Concerts will be presented by the new music group INTERFERENCE/INTERMEDIA new music collective.
The first concert in the inaugural series was held Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 7 PM. The premiere concert was a performance of the composition elements ~ five transfigurations for cello and computer by Steve Antosca, with computer programming by AU faculty member William Brent. The work was performed by cellist Tobias Werner. elements, commissioned by the Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard University, explores aspects of extended techniques and performance gestures, timbre, sonic characteristics and computer processing for the cello. elements uses computer technology created for this performance by Brent to exploit the sonically unique and visually rich performance environment of the Katzen Museum.
